Ale jak\u00fdm procesem, kdy\u017e se jeho obsah dostal a\u017e na takto vysokou hodnotu? Pro odpov\u011b\u010f na tuto ot\u00e1zku mus\u00edme zam\u00ed\u0159it do doby, kdy se na zemi objevily prvn\u00ed organismy.\u00a0\u00a0Ty jej v\u00a0t\u00e9 dob\u011b samoz\u0159ejm\u011b je\u0161t\u011b k\u00a0\u017eivotu nepot\u0159ebovaly. Ve\u0161ker\u00e9 pot\u0159ebn\u00e9 \u017eiviny i jin\u00e9 l\u00e1tky nach\u00e1zely v\u00a0mo\u0159i jako poz\u016fstatky v\u00fdbuch\u016f podmo\u0159sk\u00fdch sopek, p\u0159\u00edpadn\u011b u podmo\u0159sk\u00fdch sope\u010dn\u00fdch v\u00fdvod\u016f a gejz\u00edr\u016f, kter\u00e9 p\u0159iv\u00e1d\u011bly na povrch zna\u010dn\u011b mineralizovanou horkou vodu z\u00a0podzem\u00ed.\u00a0Ov\u0161em v\u00fdvoj se zde nezastavil. Jak tyto primitivn\u00ed organismy bojovaly o \u017eiviny, objevila se u nich schopnost z\u00edsk\u00e1vat energii nejen z\u00a0l\u00e1tek rozpu\u0161t\u011bn\u00fdch ve vod\u011b, ale tak\u00e9 ve vzduchu. Konkr\u00e9tn\u011b \u0161lo o oxid uhli\u010dit\u00fd, kter\u00e9ho bylo tehdy, v\u00a0dob\u011b siln\u00e9 vulkanick\u00e9 \u010dinnosti, v\u0161ude plno.\u00a0\u00a0Jeliko\u017e uhl\u00edk je prakticky z\u00e1kladem ve\u0161ker\u00e9ho \u017eivota na Zemi, je jasn\u00e9, \u017ee jej prvn\u00ed tvorov\u00e9 museli n\u011bjak z\u00edsk\u00e1vat. A jednou z\u00a0mo\u017enost\u00ed byl oxid uhli\u010dit\u00fd, kter\u00fd postupn\u011b dok\u00e1zaly \u0161t\u011bpit na uhl\u00edk a kysl\u00edk. Tehdy tento proces samoz\u0159ejm\u011b je\u0161t\u011b nebyl dokonal\u00fd, av\u0161ak ji\u017e prvn\u00ed bu\u0148ky, kter\u00e9 to dok\u00e1zaly, z\u00edskaly nad ostatn\u00edmi zna\u010dnou v\u00fdhodu.\u00a0Nebyly toti\u017e ji\u017e v\u00e1z\u00e1ny pouze na oblasti s\u00a0vodou dostate\u010dn\u011b bohatou na \u017eiviny, ale mohly se roz\u0161\u00ed\u0159it i d\u00e1l. T\u00edm z\u00edskaly v\u00edce prostoru, ve kter\u00e9m nebyla prozat\u00edm \u017e\u00e1dn\u00e1 konkurence, d\u00edky \u010demu\u017e se mohly rychle mno\u017eit.\u00a0Zde je pot\u0159eba poznamenat, \u017ee v\u00a0t\u00e9 dob\u011b byl kysl\u00edk v\u00a0podstat\u011b jed, nebo\u0165 jej tehdej\u0161\u00ed obyvatel\u00e9 mo\u0159\u00ed neum\u011bli zpracov\u00e1vat. I dnes koneckonc\u016f zn\u00e1me p\u0159\u00edpady p\u0159ekysli\u010den\u00ed, ke kter\u00fdm m\u016f\u017ee n\u011bkdy doj\u00edt. Ov\u0161em to, \u017ee jej tehdy neum\u011bl nikdo zpracov\u00e1vat, znamenalo, \u017ee z\u00a0atmosf\u00e9ry nebyl nijak od\u010derp\u00e1v\u00e1n. D\u00edky tomu se jeho obsah zvy\u0161oval, a to nep\u0159estalo ani pot\u00e9, co jej \u017eiv\u00ed tvorov\u00e9 za\u010dali vyu\u017e\u00edvat.
